Welcome to my Website
I have lived in the Washago- Severn Bridge area from the age of six, and have always felt fortunate to be able to stay in the area to raise a family and work. Living here provides great access to limitless outdoor activities. Through biking, hiking and canoeing my husband and I have come to know and appreciate the beauty of this area. Living here also allows easy access to all the amenities of city life, within an hour or so drive on major highways, north or southbound.
With excellent Farmers Markets in both Gravenhurst, and Orillia ,we have access to local foods and crafts. Both centres have vibrant Artists communities, with Galleries in both centres offering a great variety of work by well known Artists and Artisans. Every fall there are a number of Tours presented that show case Artists in their own Studios.
We call our area The Lakelands for good reason. It is impossible to travel anywhere in this area without having a view of a river or lake. This means endless possibilities for water sports of every type, from some of the best fishing in Ontario, to open lakes to tube, water ski and swim, or put your canoe in for a little white water trip in the spring or a leisurely paddle in the summer. Here in our Village, we have an excellent Boat Ramp, located at our beautiful Centennial Park, located at the north end of Lake Couchiching, where the Lake meets the Canal, to take you down through Trent Severn Lock 42 and down to Sparrow Lake and on to Georgian Bay.
In addition to being a gorgeous place to live it is a very friendly and welcoming area.
Both my husbands, and my families can be considered settling families in this area.We take pride in this community and are proud to be a part of it. We have always felt privileged to be able to find work in our Home Town. At this stage of our lives we appreciate that even more. It meant that I was free to work in many divergent fields, and that my husband has been able to retire from a job he really enjoyed and that kept him working out of doors!
I started my work career will a Diploma in the Mental Health field, leaving that after almost 20 yrs. to pursue a more "artistic" endeavour. I opened a Folk Art , Quilt studio/shop. This was located on the main street of the village of Washago and was 10 of the most wonderful years of my life ! After that I worked in the landscape business, and went on from there to work in the Interior Design field, where I was privileged to work with an amazingly talented designer. My acquired skills in these fields serve me well in my ability to help any client listing with me, to prepare their homes. Because I have always been interested in Home decor and design, and I enjoy meeting new people, I felt Real Estate was a natural next step for me. There is a very comprehensive course of study involved, which was, and is an ongoing responsibility for all who work in this field.

For a number of years Washago has presented " Art on the Severn". A multi medium, art show held at the Washago Community Centre. This is a juried show, featuring local artists as well as artists from surrounding area. It has been a pleasure to be part of the Jury, as well as being on the organizing committee. Each year the turnout grows, and each year the calibre of artists is impressive. Exhibitors represent a number of styles and mediums. Check out Art on the Severn.ca
Every fall there is a Fall Fashion Show presented at the Community Centre. This is always sold out and is one of the most fun evenings I have been involved in - organizing participating retailers , modeling and baking- what a great evening- a GOOD time was had by all and we were able to contribute to the Raise the Roof fund. The women who have been organizing this are a pretty special and very committed group. This type of participation from the community is a big part of what makes this the great place to live that it is.
